Dear charter school parents, teachers and students,

My name is Matt Southerton and I am the President of the New Hampshire Alliance for Public Charter Schools. The Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan organization representing public charter schools in New Hampshire. Our mission, to increase access to high-quality public schools and to protect schools like yours from those that would seek to limit your access to these important public programs.

I am writing to you today after hearing about the heartache that many of your students have felt after witnessing the political attacks on Massachusetts charter schools. I want your students to know that they are not alone. We share the same heartache that you do when we see attacks on our public schools.

New Hampshire charter school supporters are a diverse group. We represent many different communities, socio-economic backgrounds and political ideologies. What binds our community together, is the belief that all students deserve access to high-quality options and that a "one size fits all" approach does not work for all students.

New Hampshire charter schools have experienced many of the same challenges that charter schools have faced in other states. Despite these challenges, our schools continue to grow and now serve over 3,000 families! Unlike charter school opponents, our strength is not derived from money or attack ads. Our power stems from a desire by parents, teachers and supporters to give New Hampshire students exciting new options in public education!

At the Alliance, we believe that it is time to put students first!
